Hand-Built PCB Assembly

For many customers, it’s not practical or cost-effective to send small quantities of boards to a large assembly house.

SolderLab provides a flexible hand-soldered assembly service for prototype and small-batch builds, with workmanship to IPC-A-610 standards.

Whether you need a single prototype assembled, a short production run, or modifications to an existing board, you’ll receive professional, consistent results — backed by over 20 years of electronics manufacturing experience.

Prototype & Low-Volume PCB Assembly

If you’ve designed a new PCB and need a small number assembled for testing, evaluation, or demos, we can help with low-volume builds including:

  • 1 – 20 boards (typical prototype quantities)
  • Mixed SMD and through-hole
  • Early-stage builds where design changes are expected
  • Clean, inspected boards ready for use

Small-Batch & Pilot Builds

For projects that need more than a handful of boards but don’t suit large assembly houses, SolderLab offers hand-built small batches where care and consistency matter.

  • 20+ boards — larger quantities considered where the project is a good fit.
  • Suitable for simple to moderate component density
  • Consistent workmanship across the batch
  • Each batch is quoted individually after reviewing the boards and parts

Micro-Soldering Service (Single Component)

(£20 per component)

For precision repairs and single-component work, we offer a dedicated micro-soldering service, including:

  • IC replacement (SOIC, TSSOP, QFP, QFN where appropriate)
  • Regulator and power device replacement
  • Connector replacement
  • Fine-pitch rework
  • Component removal and refitting

You supply the PCB and replacement parts.

This is a board-only service. Customers are responsible for removing the PCB from any enclosure before sending.

This service does not include diagnostics.

Modification & Rework Services

Design changes, incorrect builds, or PCB revisions often require small but precise modifications. We can help with:

Modification Work

  • Changing passive values
  • Changing IC types where footprint allows
  • Track/jumper modifications
  • Adding or removing components

Rework Work

  • Component removal
  • Component orientation correction
  • Replacing incorrect parts
  • Fixing solder bridges or tombstoned components

Who This Service Is For

  • Electronics startups
  • University research groups
  • Product developers
  • Makers and hobbyists
  • People with kits or PCBs requiring assembly
  • Anyone needing a one-off repair or small-batch build
